The Perfect OTS

I've had a hard time coming to terms with myself that I could really pull off the off-the-shoulder trend. To be honest, I did the thing where I tried to get everyone around me (from my mom, to my sister, my coworkers and my friends) to wear it so I could live the trend vicariously through them. Growing up playing sports buffed up my shoulders too much, and I thought that my wide shoulders would only be accentuated with bare shoulders.

If you saw my August edition of #ShopaholicsAnonymous, then you know that this top was in that mix. I normally really stray away from ruffles and multi layers to give that 'fake' look of a smaller frame, but when I got this top, I thought "WHY NOT" (and also, worst case, I could just give it to my sister...).

The number one key to me styling this top to not look like I was wearing a white potato sack was by tucking the shirt in! Also, the off the shoulder tops give a very unique and one-of-a-kind vibe when paired with flare pants, so of course I had to throw on my favorite pair of perfect length released hem flare jeans by Bee&Ceci jeans. My little red Kate Spade Saturday bag added the perfect pop of color.

Lesson of the day?

Confidence really does come from within!

Even if there are trends that you feel like you can't pull off, don't ever give up because there's probably one way or another that you can make this work! If you have a bigger upper frame like me, try to make your hair bigger with either volume or curls and keep your hair down to provide a cut off illusion effect. Chokers are also a great addition to make your shoulders not look so bare and in full view.
With the right amount of personalization, all trends are possible to interpretation for every shape, size and form!

xoxo, Yoona
