Camel and Chucks

I read an article the other day that the grown up version of Blair Waldorf would be rocking one key item: a camel coat. Of course, I had gotten my Crombie-inspired camel coat from BooHoo way before I saw this article, but ever since I saw Kim Kardashian (in case you didn't know, she's a part of what I call my "UnHoly Trinity" in a good way) rocking the amazing MaxMara wrap coat early last year... a camel coat was on my list of 'must haves' for this past fall and winter.

The first thing my mom said as soon as she saw this coat was, "Oh my gosh, I had a similar coat when I was your age!" So, yes Mom, we know, fashion always comes back around. And, Mom, why didn't you save your custom tailored coat for me?!

A camel coat is definitely a classic staple, whether you have a vintage one from the 80s, a fresh new Burberry trench in camel, a J Crew jacket, or even the MaxMara teddy coat. The color screams elegance and sophistication, and is a very easy way to make your lazy day look chic.

The Alexa coat from BooHoo that I'm wearing is inspired by Crombie, a British fashion company known for luxury coats. Their coats are so well known to the point that a 3/4 length overcoat is typically referred to as a Crombie Coat (which, according to Wikipedia, is actually illegal to do so and can breach copyright laws).

Back in February, I had gone home right after my trip to Vegas for one of my college best friend's wedding (pics on this to come soon!). In LA, we had been experiencing heat and death just right before I had left, so I was definitely not ready for the chillier weather.

With my camel coat, I paired it with my favorite jeggings from Cotton On and an Ann Taylor boatneck striped top I borrowed from my mom (which I brought back to LA with me hehe).

I just LOVE the white background with black stripe look in boatnecks. The nautical, yet sophisticated vibe of the stripes were the perfect way to make my lazy day look great.

Besides the camel coat being a throwback for my mom, the advent of the dressed up sneaker look lately brought back high school days for me and convinced me to buy a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors!! As soon as I saw the sneaker trend kicking back in, I instantly regretted selling my pair from high school to Plato's Closet!! But, my new Chucks are being taken care of a thousand times better than my high school ones!!

So throwing two throwbacks into one, and then stealing my mom's top, created a great outfit for a chill day with my sister :) All photo credits to the famous Judy!
