25. My Year.

For the longest time, I wanted to start my own blog. Not just any blog, but a fashion blog.

There's nothing else in life that I have more passion for than the world of fashion. I breathe it, I live it, and I enjoy it. Furthermore, I'm one of those scenarios where I was blessed to grow up in the industry and find my own career in the industry. My grandmother was a dressmaker back in the 50's. My mom was a designer, a buyer, and now the owner of her own fashion jewelry company. My dad, even though he was an athlete, was a part time buyer for his family's store, and the man had a killer sense of style on his own.

When my family found out that my true passion and talents were in this industry, it didn't come as a surprise to them. My dolls, ranging from Barbie to baby dolls to teddy bears, were always being dressed in something. My favorite part about my Barbie collection were the boxes of clothes I had accumulated. My mom and grandma say I started dressing myself before most kids can match socks together. I even made my dog shirts from my sister's old toddler clothes!!!

There was always something about fashion that made me love it. And that something is that it empowers people in its own way.

I'm not your size 2-4 female Asian blogger with great skin and metabolism. I'm actually the direct opposite. Mostly ranging in size 8, 6 or 7 on great days. I've battled and struggled with eczema and atopic dermatitis my whole life. I have the most athletic calves imaginable (thanks mom and dad for making me play golf my whole life!!). But I know damn well how to dress myself to make it not look like I have all those battles with self image going on, and I can run in my 5 inch Christian Louboutins like Christian Bale is waiting for me on the other side.

But, why now? Why am I staring my blog now?

Well, it was a timed goal for me. The year I turn 25, I wanted to set the stage for the next quarter of my life. Set some goals so that the 50 year old me would not look back and regret a thing. I know this is a huge project and there's more bad blogs than good, but if I can influence just ONE person to feel amazing in their own skin, battle their self image issues, and inspire them with fashion the way fashion inspired me, then I can look back when I'm 50 and be satisfied.

The first quarter of my life, I like to think, was spent finding out who I am and who I wanted to be. I want to spend the next 25 becoming the person I want to be and making sure that all my goals for my 20's are accomplished.

I hope you enjoy my work, my insight, and my analysis of what's going on in the world I live in. More so, I hope that in one way or another, fashion can help save your life as it has done for me.

And so, closing off the introduction to why Fashion Yoonaverse has finally surfaced (with the help and support of my amazing family, boyfriend, friends, and coworkers!!) are three quotes that have helped me get through life so far and inspired me.

"Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it."
Yves Saint Laurent

"In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different."
Coco Chanel

“You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened... or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and [move on].”
